Our Commitment.
Begins at Home.
The ability to grow food for generations means that we have to take care of our critical business partner: nature. We use a variety of integrated pest management techniques, which help us to continue growing quality fruit on healthy trees and allows us to make carefully informed decisions about what crop protection tools are necessary. Additionally, over the past six years, we have begun the process of converting acres of land into pollinator habitats.
Joe Rasch Orchards is currently home to approximately 3 acres of pollinator habitat, which has become home for a variety of wildlife. The farm will be planting an additional 3 sections in 2024 with an ultimate goal of approximately 7 acres dedicated to pollinator/wildlife refuge.
Extends to our Community.
In 2020, we recognized the difficulty facing so many in our community and our sixth generation began converting 2 acres of land to cut flower production, with donated stems making their way to many in our community facing different struggles. 2024 will mark our fourth year of proudly supplying thousands of blooms through donation partnerships throughout our area.
In line with our belief that everyone should have access to healthy food, we have launched a direct apple donation program in 2024 throughout our community. We anticipate reaching nearly 15,000 people through this effort.
And Reaches Abroad.
Today, more than ever, we are connected to people and environments thousands of miles away. Joe’s son-in-law and farm manager, Manuel, grew up with an acute awareness of the importance of protecting biodiversity and was involved in efforts to protecting the near-extinct yellow-eared parrots in his hometown.
In addition to committing to the best care of the land in our backyard, our family also commits time to working alongside residents on reforestation, wildlife protection and water conservancy abroad, in one of the globe’s most critical ecosystems: cloud forests.
